A worker village developed by Adapteo, operated by Lynra (Strawberry)

The Aurora village project

We’re rethinking temporary living

Developed in Luleå as part of the transformation towards fossilfree industry, Aurora is the largest worker accommodation project in the Nordics, designed to house around 2,000 people over several years. Created by Adapteo in partnership with Lynra, its role is both practical and essential, providing the conditions needed to support a growing workforce in a region undergoing rapid change.

At the same time, Aurora challenges the idea of what worker accommodation can be. Rather than a collection of buildings, it is planned as a functioning community, with a clear structure, shared spaces and a central hub that brings people together. Architecture, interiors and services are shaped to support wellbeing, routine and a sense of belonging.

Working with the best

Aurora is developed by Adapteo in partnership with Lynra, a branch of Strawberry Living. Adapteo is responsible for delivering the modular buildings and infrastructure, ensuring speed, flexibility and quality at scale. Lynra leads operations and services, creating a hospitality-driven experience that supports everyday life, from arrival to daily routines.

At the same time, it is closely connected to the wider community in Luleå. As the region undergoes rapid transformation, Aurora supports not only the workforce, but also the long-term development of the area, creating the conditions for people, projects and communities to grow together.

Interior concept

Crafted by Tengbom

The interior concept for Aurora Village has been developed by Tengbom’s interior design studio, using principles of neurodesign and nature‑inspired materials to create warm, welcoming environments where people can feel well and at home, even during temporary stays.

By combining smart, space‑efficient solutions with carefully considered colours, lighting and sustainable material choices, Tengbom has created an interior that supports everyday life while fostering comfort, recovery and a sense of community.

Sustainability

Circular by design

Sustainability is built into Aurora from the start. Based on Adapteo’s circular model, the buildings are designed to be reused, reconfigured and adapted over time, extending their lifespan and reducing the need for new materials.

It’s a more flexible way to build, one that responds to changing needs without starting from scratch. By combining circular construction with thoughtful design and long-term use, Aurora reduces environmental impact while creating spaces that continue to serve people, project after project.

Safety & security

Where everything feels considered

From how the site is planned to how spaces are lit and connected, everything is made to feel clear, open and easy to move through.

Together with security experts and local partners, we’ve created an environment where people can feel safe, settled and taken care of, every day.
